The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, was this Wednesday on the program Buenos días, Lanzarote of Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero to answer some questions about her candidacy for the organization secretary of Coalición Canaria Lanzarote. Specifically, Duque will run alongside Pedro San Ginés in the candidacy to be at the head of the party on the island.

In this sense, the mayor has said that "she had never considered being the organization secretary but, after talking to San Ginés and he raised the possibility of being the person who could accompany him, I see it as viable and I like the project and what he proposes to me".

"I have always been a party person and I think I have demonstrated it during all these years and why not, I think I am also with a person who has also proven to be a party person and I understand that it is my moment," she continued.

Regarding the management of the organization secretary with the mayorship of Teguise in case of getting that position, Duque has pointed out that she would carry it out "just as Migdalia Machín, María Jesús Tovar or María Dolores Corujo have done, any person with desire and taking time away from personal things because the public part is the greatest responsibility one has".

In addition, she has also pointed out that "with commitment, desire, organization and with a team, there is still to be appointed once the congress passes the vice-secretary of organization in which I will rely on and, in the same way, on the colleagues of the political council because we are all a team and the guidelines will be set from the party leadership although Coalición Canaria is a party that listens and is always hand in hand with the members and local committees".

The situation of internal division

Regarding the internal division present in CC, Olivia Duque has said that "the local committee of Teguise has always been demanding" and has denied that it was "united". "Already from the past candidacy the local committee of Teguise had diverse and different opinions, and that was already experienced in the previous process when there were changes in the local secretariat in Teguise when it was renewed but this should not pose any problem for us, or at least for me".

In this sense, the mayor has continued stating that "Teguise has always been a local committee characterized by being demanding but being united when it has had to be, I don't know why we are so afraid of debate and people giving their opinion".

On the other hand, Duque has assured that whether her candidacy and that of Pedro San Ginés or that of Samuel Martín together with Toni Callero wins, "she will be very clear that Coalición Canaria will come out strengthened and that the local committees of Teguise and the island will align because I understand that the people who are taking the step are only thinking about the party, and if one thinks about CC, what one thinks about is the work of unity and listening".

In addition, she has stated that she would like "the measuring sticks to be the same for everyone although I know it is impossible but there have also been statements regarding the local committee of Teguise that are far from reality and I am not going to get into the elegance of each one".

Regarding the question of whether her image together with Pedro San Ginés may harm her in the municipality of Teguise, the mayor has said that "I have not stopped to think if it benefits me or not because Pedro San Ginés does not work with me in the Town Hall, so it will not harm me because he is not with me in the government group, in any case it would benefit me if he was within the party because I am going to have the possibility of demanding certain things that Teguise needs".
