The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Island Agricultural Service, managed by Ángel Vázquez, has acquired new machinery and vehicles to incorporate them into the vehicle fleet of the Experimental Agricultural Farm and thus improve the services offered to farmers on the island.
This Tuesday morning, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries presented the new agricultural machinery, specifically two tractors for carrying out work on sandy and enarenado land; a sweet potato harvester and a scallion planter. Likewise, three new vehicles have also been acquired, a pick-up, a 4x4 and a small van, thanks to a subsidy of 70,789.84 euros from the Fdcan Funds.
The councilor, Ángel Vázquez, explained that “the total investment for the acquisition of the new machinery and vehicles, which modernize the Farm's fleet, amounts to 251,330.26 euros” and added that “this is machinery that is highly demanded by the sector for the maintenance of crops”.
From the Cabildo they highlight that "currently, the Experimental Agricultural Farm houses a multitude of services aimed at facilitating the work that farmers carry out in the island's countryside, and for this it has more than a dozen tractors, six seeders, three post hole diggers, three potato seeders and four garlic seeders, a manure spreader, as well as plows, a cultivator, a thresher, a mower and an olive harvester, among other machinery."
