Nueva Canarias Lanzarote has demanded that the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands carry out serological and PCR screening on the entire staff of the ambulance service in Lanzarote.

"This service provides fundamental assistance in the fight against the pandemic, ensuring prevention measures and possible infections between professionals and users," the formation points out.

Yoné Caraballo, insular secretary of the Welfare State of NC-Lanzarote, expresses his "amazement" at the "lack of sensitivity and attention" towards this group of professionals. “On many occasions they are the first to have contact with patients. It is discrimination that their safety is not shielded”, says Caraballo.

According to NC, currently, the staff belonging to the Canary Emergency Service and the Canary Health Service that provides assistance through urgent and non-urgent ambulances in Lanzarote represents a total of 103 workers.

Nueva Canarias considers that "for the competent institutions it does not represent an excessive expense" to carry out PCR on this staff, if one takes into account "the important function that these professionals perform for society".

On the other hand, from the Canarist formation they also request that the entire group of Sanitary Emergency Technicians and Non-Urgent Sanitary Transport Technicians be included as first-line personnel, in order to receive vaccination as essential personnel. “The Canary Health Service is our cornerstone of well-being. We must provide our workers with maximum security”, concludes Caraballo.
