The Cabildo councilor Antonio Morales will not resign from CC despite the Renovating Movement of Tinajo that he has created to run in the next municipal elections, where he will face his fellow party member Jesús Machín. "The party will have to say if it is incompatible," Morales pointed out. Furthermore, although he has already resigned from the government areas he had delegated in the first institution, he has not abandoned his seat as councilor.
"I have not done it yet because it was the president of the Cabildo who asked me if it was okay for me to keep the seat for the moment to see if it is possible to get the Environmental Body out, which is fundamental for this island of Lanzarote and for the municipality of Tinajo," Morales specified, who said that "out of responsibility", because Pedro San Ginés has told him that he is "a few days away from resolving this situation", he will keep the seat.
Morales made these statements in a press conference he offered to present the Renovating Movement of Tinajo, in which he was accompanied by two former CC councilors in the municipality, Manuel Guillén and Miguel Morales, and Ángel Bonilla. "I have been in CC for many years, half my life, and therefore, with CC, the relationship with the affiliation and in general, remains the same, nothing has changed," Antonio Morales stated, to explain why he also has no intention of resigning from CC.

In fact, Antonio Morales has stated that in the Renovating Movement of Tinajo there are more CC members and that they do not rule out supporting the candidacy of Pedro San Ginés to the Cabildo and that of Oswaldo Betancort to the Congress of Deputies. "We, with CC, because many of us are members and have participated in the party, that possibility may exist. We have nothing against CC, everything is possible from here to there and we do not rule out that possibility," he pointed out.
He says they will run "alone" and denies negotiations with LAVA
Regarding the candidacy of the Renovating Movement of Tinajo, which by mistake appears registered in the Ministry of Interior as the Renovating Party of Tinajo, Morales has stated that they will run "alone" with "a great team of men and women", although the list is yet to be configured. In this regard, he has also denied having been in negotiations to close an electoral alliance with Lanzarote Avanza. "No, no political contacts, although I talk to many people," he indicated.
According to what he explained, although "it was at the beginning of March" when the Renovating Movement of Tinajo submitted the request to register as a party, this project began to take shape "years ago", in "the political gatherings of the people of the town, fundamentally due to the longing for better times". "Of a glorious past with identity," Morales added, highlighting that Tinajo came "to be the cleanest municipality in Spain" and that "the best nativity scenes and pilgrimages" were those of the municipality.

"That is why, and for many more things, as the song said, we were the mirror in which everyone wanted to look," Morales pointed out, stating that "the Renovating Movement of Tinajo does not intend to be an opportunistic political pamphlet", but that "it consists of a collection of thoughts and reflections about Tinajo, about its structural problems as a town". "Thus we have reached the conclusion, and we will not tire of repeating it, that a new political thought is necessary in Tinajo," he stated, calling the creation of this party an "act of courage".
"A new political thought is necessary in Tinajo"
Likewise, Antonio Morales has highlighted the "participatory nature" of the Renovating Movement of Tinajo, stating that, if they come to govern in the municipality, "working groups of different kinds will be created as an advisory body" and that there will be "periodic meetings in all the payments of the municipalities giving an account". "We do not have magic recipes, but we are willing to look for them, frankly and honestly together with the citizens,"
In this sense, he has highlighted "urgent issues to be resolved now" in the municipality "in infrastructure, roads, sidewalks, accessibility, maintenance of gardens and municipal lighting". "We have to experience new ways to accelerate the economic and social development of Tinajo," Morales added.
He does not rule out being able to agree with Jesús Machín after the elections
However, although Morales has insisted on the importance of "renovating" Tinajo, he has not ruled out being able to agree with Jesús Machín in the City Council after the elections. "We are going to make a project and we will see what happens after May 26, because many things can happen. So, we do not close doors to anyone," he stated, although he insisted that "the important thing is to change, renovate and fight for the municipality".
Among the audience attending the press conference were the former historical member of the PSOE, Fefo Nieves, and the former president of the PIL, Antonio Hernández.
