The Island Director of the General State Administration in Lanzarote, María Dolores Luzardo, presided this Friday morning at the ceremony to recognize people who "from their individual, institutional or associative work, accredit and reinforce the conviction that the elimination of gender violence is the task and commitment of society as a whole and of each person in particular, wherever they are or whatever activity they carry out."

On this occasion, the award winner was Don Manuel Peñatos Manzano, UPAP Coordinator at the Arrecife Local Police Station. His attitudes and aptitudes in caring for women who suffer gender violence, which requires special attention and differentiated treatment, as well as his close collaboration and coordination with professionals from different fields to prevent and protect victims, stand out. Under his direction, the first Police Unit for Prevention, Support and Protection of women victims of gender violence in Lanzarote was created, the U.P.A.P. and, with his coordination work, "he has promoted a process of continuous improvement in the quality of care for women victims of gender violence, implementing good police practices in the Unit."

Subsequently, the manifesto was read and a minute of silence was observed for the victims at the main door of the building.
