"I am going to work with all my strength to achieve change in Lanzarote and maintain the presidency of the Cabildo." This is how the elected president of the institution, Loli Corujo, has stated, after learning that the Ministry of the Interior mistakenly assigned councilors to parties that had not obtained the minimum 5% representation in the Cabildo, so that Ciudadanos, Somos and Lava could be left out of the institution, opening the door to a possible alliance between CC and PP to snatch the presidency. "We are going to see the final result," Corujo also pointed out, confirming that it will be this Wednesday when the official count is published.

In any case, the also general secretary of the PSOE in Lanzarote will take office as president of the Cabildo. And, in the case of the Island Corporation, the election is direct, so only a motion of censure could snatch the baton of command from her. "I am president, no matter how much Pedro San Ginés dislikes it," Loli Corujo has stated, who has also affirmed that she will assume the presidency of the institution "extending her hand to all parties." "Yes, we will sit down with all political formations," the socialist insisted, including the PP in this.

And, if Ciudadanos, Somos and Lava are left without representation in the Cabildo, the three seats to be assigned would go to the three most voted forces, in such a way that the socialists continue as winners with nine councilors, followed by Coalición Canaria with eight, and the Popular Party with four. In addition, the plenary session of the Cabildo would be reduced to four parties, with Podemos being the fourth force, with two councilors.

"San Ginés represents everything I detest in politics"

"But, I insist, with one clear thing that I always said, because I believe that there are many things that remain to be known and to which I commit, with light and stenographer, that citizens know what has been happening unfortunately in these last ten years of government of Pedro San Ginés in the Cabildo," Corujo specified, who did highlight the "red line" she has with the current acting president of the institution.

"I am not going to participate in this political farce, in this way of doing politics, of persecuting people who think differently. The brawl and confrontation are over and I said it clearly: I will not be president or vice president with the support of Pedro San Ginés, because he represents everything I detest in politics", said the elected president of the Cabildo, who also confirmed that, while she received "calls from the rest of the parties to congratulate her, it was not so from the CC candidate," "But it does not surprise me either," added Corujo, highlighting that San Ginés "did not attend to the media either" on election night.

"You cannot agree with those who have been governing for 26 years"

Corujo has also expressed her desire that "change reaches the Canary Islands." "That it already arrived, because we won, we won," Loli Corujo pointed out, who specified that what she hopes is that Ángel Víctor Torres becomes president of the Government who, according to several regional media, has not ruled out an agreement with the PP to unseat CC after 26 years at the head of the Community.

"And to change the Canary Islands you cannot agree with those who have been governing for 26 years. And not only 26 years, but we are at the bottom in everything: in health, in education, in dependency, that is, it has been a real disaster," Corujo said in this regard.

"There is a possibility of change, there is illusion and hope and there is another way of governing and we want to demonstrate it. And to demonstrate it we need other agreements and support and, from there, the negotiation process begins, but clearly the intention of the PSOE is to change things and not agree with the usual ones", added Corujo, who nevertheless pointed out that it will be "with the scrutiny already validated", when the PSOE will begin "to work on what is politics, which is definitely the pact, the agreement and the negotiation".
