Puerto del Carmen will have a new shopping center on Avenida de las Playas, in a neuralgic area near Playa Grande, according to the City Council. The new building will have 359 parking spaces, built on several underground floors, according to the technical report registered in the Technical Office of the City Council.
This private initiative, included in the second Modernization Plan of Puerto del Carmen, will be executed on a plot of 6,012.50 square meters located at number 5 of Avenida de las Playas.
The City Council of Tías publishes in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) of this Monday, January 28, the mandatory agreement for the granting of the urban license. According to the regulations governing modernization plans in the Canary Islands, developers must sign an urban agreement with the City Council where their action is located and submit it to public consultation. Since last summer, the so-called Canary Islands Land Law' establishes that the public consultation period must be two months.
The company Lanzasuiza, S.A. is the one that will develop this shopping center on the land where the Aparhotel La Perla used to be. This new set of complementary offers will also be named La Perla and will have 24,981.81 square meters of built area, among which 359 parking spaces will be allocated, so, after its completion, it will be the "largest indoor parking" in Puerto del Carmen.
With demolition and building permit granted
On this plot, the City Council of Tías had already granted a demolition license for the old aparthotel and even an urban license for the construction of this new shopping center. On that occasion, the developer had only requested the license for one phase of the new building. Now, it requests the new and mandatory license for the entire La Perla shopping center, whose file appears in the Modernization Plan of Puerto del Carmen, intending to build the entire 24,981.81 square meters of built area, on a plot of 6,012.50 square meters, with access from two streets.
The mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, is pleased with the launch of this new equipment on Avenida de las Playas, whose construction "will contribute to the creation of new employment linked to two sectors of the economy: construction and commerce".
