This Monday, school activity resumes normally in all educational centers of Lanzarote, after the passage of Storm Olivier, which affected various facilities on the island during the past week. The damage caused by the storm has been repaired, allowing students to return to classrooms in safe conditions after the holiday period.

In the municipality of Arrecife, one of the most affected, both the Official School of Languages (EOI) and the Teacher Training Center (CEP) Lanzarote suffered flooding. The intense work of the cleaning teams in recent days has allowed its reopening without significant incidents. At the Argana Compulsory Education Center (CEO), also in the capital, the storm caused damage in two areas: the flooding of the court, already resolved, and the detachment of parts of the metal roof, whose replacement does not prevent the start of classes.

Without leaving the municipality, the La Destila Infant and Primary Education Center (CEIP), whose basement was also affected by flooding, reopens this Monday without setbacks, after the pertinent conditioning work. The same occurs with the Capellanía de Yágabo and Benito Méndez Tarajano CEIPs, in whose courtyards mud accumulated, which was removed before resuming school activity.

Regarding the secondary education institutes of Arrecife, both Blas Cabrera Felipe and Las Salinas have been able to reopen without setbacks. In the first, leaks were detected in the roofing of the pavilion, already repaired. Of the rest of the secondary schools in the capital, there is no record of incidents that have conditioned their opening.

In Teguise, the Costa Teguise CEIP restarted its activity as planned, despite leaks in one of its modular units, since the necessary improvements were planned for these dates. The César Manrique Cabrera CEIP, one of the most affected in the municipality, presented problems such as leaks in two classrooms due to obstruction of gutters, as well as the entry of water into the Infant Education classrooms and the Enclave classroom, all of which have already been resolved. The IES Costa Teguise did not register incidents, while in the IES Teguise no apparent damage has been observed after the visual inspection carried out by technicians from the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands.
