In the last 13 days, 187 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Lanzarote, which represents an average of 14 tests per day, according to the president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, who offered this Monday a telematic press conference to report on the measures adopted on the island to stop the spread of Covid 19 and to take stock of the situation

In addition, Corujo has announced that this Monday 100 more tests will be carried out, prioritizing health personnel, members of the Las Cabreras nursing home and members of the security forces. Likewise, the president of the Cabildo has stated that this week they expect to receive the necessary laboratory material so that the tests can be done again in Lanzarote, since right now the samples are having to be sent to Gran Canaria. From there, they expect a hundred tests to be carried out daily.

Regarding the nursing home, where the first case of a health worker was known ten days ago, so far only about ten users have been tested, out of the more than twenty that the center has. "Those people who have had direct contact with a positive have preference," Corujo specified, who added that the rest will continue to be carried out in the coming days, when the material arrives.

So far, with the tests carried out, two elderly people and two health workers from the residence had tested positive. Regarding the users who are still waiting for the tests, the president has indicated that "many of them are without any type of symptoms." However, others already present some type of symptomatology and according to Corujo, "they have an exhaustive follow-up by the Canarian Health Service."

"The situation today in Las Cabreras is cautiously hopeful. The data invites moderate optimism," said the president of the Cabildo, who also stressed that the center's staff has been reinforced "with two more nurses per shift and with an assistant during the day."

Disinfection of the UME in residences and police units

In addition, the president of the Cabildo has announced that the Military Emergency Unit (UME) was going to continue this Monday with the disinfection tasks on the island, focusing on all the residences, as well as on the dependencies of the National Police, Civil Guard and Local Police.

And it is that it must be remembered that at least two positive cases have also been registered among the members of the security forces on the island, specifically in a civil guard assigned to the airport and a local police officer from Arrecife.
