A member of Nueva Canarias has filed a complaint in court against Lanzarote Avanza for a possible crime of forgery, after seeing that his name appeared on the list of Tinajo without having given his consent. In his complaint, he explains that he saw with "surprise" how he appeared as a candidate of the coalition formed by Unidos por Yaiza and the PIL, with whom he claims he had not even held conversations.
According to his complaint, filed this Wednesday in the Arrecife duty court, he has "suspicions" that "someone had to forge the sworn statement required by the Electoral Board" with his "personal data" and his "signature". Therefore, in addition to bringing this possible crime to the attention of the Justice system, he has also forwarded it to the Electoral Board.
"It was not a signature made by me"
"When you see that someone presents a signature with your name, I go blank, because it was not a signature made by me," he said in statements to La Voz, where he explained that he found out that he appeared on the Lanzarote Avanza list "through a colleague." In addition, he has denied having or having had any connection with this electoral coalition, which has signed other former members of NC, such as its former councilor in Tinajo, Ramón Ortiz.
The complainant, who prefers that his name not be revealed, explains that one of those former NC colleagues asked him some time ago for his ID and that he "innocently" gave it to him, although he emphasizes that "not being sure" if that had anything to do with it, he has not directed the complaint against a person, but against Lanzarote Avanza.
"It is never mentioned to me that I am going to join that political party, but that as the lists for the Mayor's office were going to come out and they had to prepare everything, it was only for that," said the affected party, who believes that if that was how they included him on the Lanzarote Avanza lists, it was "a treacherous way of doing it."
