The General Director of Labor of the Ministry of Employment, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, Gloria Gutiérrez, has stated in a statement that the Labor Inspection area is investigating the death of a worker from Lanzarote, Felipe Pinto, who lost his life last week after being run over by a truck while performing his duties as security manager in a warehouse.
Gutiérrez presents her condolences to the family and sets as an objective to ensure that this type of event is avoided. In that sense, she points out that "safety at work is fundamental and the administration cannot turn its back on events like this." And although she highlights that there has been a decrease in the number of victims in recent years, she reiterates that "we must continue to insist."
The councilor admits that in times of crisis "it is when we must protect this type of situation the most, because in many cases workers risk their lives in order not to lose their jobs", so she asks for the cooperation of "everyone" to guarantee their safety.
