Councilor Kalinda Pérez was elected this Tuesday as local secretary of the socialist group of Tías. Her candidacy was ultimately the only one presented and received the support of 76 percent of the votes.
Accompanying the new leader of the PSOE in Tías will be Cathaysa López as Secretary of Organization; Juan Félix Eugenio as Secretary of Municipal Policy and Administration, and María Elena Aparicio as Secretary of Social Affairs and Education.
In addition, Julián Núñez will be Secretary of Tourism; Carmen Gloria Rodríguez, Secretary of Environment and Training; Cristopher Notario, Secretary of Sports; Amparo Suarez, Secretary of Equality; and Cristo Daniel González, Secretary of Youth.
In her acceptance speech after the announcement of the results, Kalinda Pérez expressed her desire to regain the trust of the citizens of Tías in the PSOE. "We are going to write a new chapter in the socialist history of the municipality, so full of political successes, citizen advancement, and concern for the people. And we are going to manage this Corporation again, united and strengthened, with criteria of solidarity and social justice, equality, and attention to the disadvantaged," said the now local secretary of Tías.
In addition, she pledged to "focus her efforts" on "evicting the forces of the right wing from the municipal government."
