The head of the Court of Instruction number 7 of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Miguel Ángel Parramón, has issued an order of provisional imprisonment without bail for the former general director of Industry in the Government of the Canary Islands, Celso Perdomo, of the Popular Party, and for his sentimental partner, Mónica Quintana.
Parramón has communicated the decision to both people a few minutes after they entered the court.
Perdomo, therefore, enters prison under the charges of embezzlement of public funds, bribery, influence peddling and trafficking in privileged information, while Quintana does so with the imputation of a crime of bribery and another of embezzlement of public funds.
Perdomo and Quintana were the only two people who were still detained by the Police within the framework of Operation Eolo, which investigates the alleged trafficking of privileged information around the public tender for the award of wind energy in the Canary Islands. The remaining five detainees were released on charges on bail, in all cases, except one who was released on charges without bail.
