The councilor of Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-bc) in the Teguise City Council, the town doctor Fernando Jiménez, wants to express his rejection of the assessments made by the mayor of Teguise of Coalición Canaria (CC) Olivia Duque, who in a local media outlet pointed out "the cost to the council of taking care of the burials of immigrants who died on the coasts of the Canary Islands, and even the problem of space they generate in the municipal cemetery".
For Jiménez, "these assessments are irresponsible and not up to the position of being mayor of a municipality with such marked Christian and solidarity values and history as Teguise." The Canarian councilor continues, arguing "that mixing immigration with economic costs is in itself demagogic and dangerous, but if it is already done to mention the deceased, it is a lack of humanity."
"A manager and leader must carefully assess what he says and what he does not say in the media. A situation can be managed internally or through political and administrative channels without airing arguments that only load hatred and misinform society," says Fernando Jiménez.
With everything, Fernando Jiménez appeals to "the Christian solidarity of the society of Teguise" so that they reject attitudes that seek to divide and generate hatred.
