Although there is no official confirmation of the opening date, sources from the home products company said that it could occur even before the end of this year, around the month of December, since the company's objective is to take advantage of the sales boom that occurs during the Christmas holidays.
The future Ikea store will be located on the Los Mármoles road, specifically in the Altavista II Industrial Estate, and will have an area of more than 5,000 square meters. The construction work began more than three months ago, and is in its final stretch, so it is very likely that the opening of this long-awaited store will occur within the planned deadlines, and the residents of Lanzarote will be able to make their next Christmas purchases in the new establishment. In this sense, the workers are working hard these days so that the opening of the new store will take place in the first weeks of December.
Telephone order service
The store will have a commercial area of 2,500 m2 divided into two floors. Also
it will have more than 500 m2 of restaurant, cafeteria and food sales,
an underground parking of 9,000 m2, an outdoor parking of 2,300 m2 and a warehouse of 2,100
m2.
Ikea was already present in Lanzarote through its telephone order service, but the volume
of demand as well as the spectacular development of the island's economy have led to the
decision to open a new center. In this sense, Ikea is convinced that its products adapt perfectly to the characteristics of the island.
Active presence in the Canary Islands
The Swedish brand has been known in the archipelago for 24 years. In 1981 the Ikea store in Gran Canaria was opened (the first in the Canary Islands and in all of Spain), and the one in Tenerife arrived shortly after, in 1985. Since then Ikea has had an active presence in the lives of thousands of
Canarians offering them the possibility of a better day to day.
