The Haría City Council has granted a license to rehabilitate the house known as "Los Naranjos" which will thus be converted into a rural hotel. The mayor of Haría, Marci Acuña, and the Councilor for Heritage, José Pérez Dorta, visited the works already started on the house.
The northern mayor expresses his satisfaction "because one of the most significant houses in terms of traditional architecture in the north of the island, from the late 19th century, is being adapted for tourist use", and applauds the decision of its promoters: "we need brave people who bet on the rural world", he said.
According to the City Council, "the Madrid couple composed of Begoña Pérez Mateos and José Antonio García García were captivated by the house in one of their visits to the island of Lanzarote with their children, later returning with the aim of acquiring it, classified as a monumental house with a degree of protection two, so the restoration process is being tremendously rigorous and exhaustive".
The idea of the new owners is also to take advantage of the common areas of the house so that they can be visited by tourists and residents, organizing cultural activities such as musical performances, exhibitions or storytelling.
