How have you taken this motion of censure?
- A motion of censure is a legal, legitimate and democratic instrument, although the truth is that it has been presented signed by some somewhat strange parties, since they also do so outside the directions of both formations. At least as far as Coalición and PNL are concerned. The PSOE thing surprised me quite a bit, but then I began to understand, and all I have to say is good luck to the new government group, since their luck will be the luck of the municipality.
You say that you understood the reasons of the PSOE later, what do you think they were?
-Well, they were missing one, and since they were missing one, the PSOE had to sign. A member of the Nationalist Party of Lanzarote remains on the sidelines, who is the only one who respects the guidelines of his party, which in this case is José Antonio Rodríguez, so the Socialist Party signs it, so that this motion of censure is signed and delivered, supposedly and until the moment arrives, by defectors.
-Ángel Domínguez commented on this program that José Antonio Rodríguez had been and had participated in all the meetings, and that the PNL leadership knew about these meetings and conversations.
-I am not going to tell you what the parties have done because I do not belong to them and because I do not know what they have done, what I do know is what they have said in recent days. It seems that on Friday, they did not wait until Monday, and both (PNL and CC) issued a press release in which, apparently, they reject the motion of censure that has been presented in Yaiza and announce that they will open the corresponding disciplinary proceedings against each of them. That is at least what appears in the press and that is what tells me that the directions did not agree. But with time it will be seen, since if they expel them it is that they did not agree and if they do not expel them it is that they were. The only thing I know for sure is that on the 11th a motion of censure will be debated that will send me to the opposition.
With the economic situation that the City Council is going through, there are people who say that they have done you a favor. Do you think you have been saved from a good one?
-The situation of the City Council has not been easy, it has never been easy and we have worked hard, very hard, but I believe that personal interest has prevailed in the motion, since as I say they have gone over their own parties. As I have also said, I wish them good luck, the situation of the City Council is complicated and I do not think it will be easier now. They will discover day by day if they have to work and make an effort. From the opposition I will be there to collaborate in everything that is good.
Do you think that the Party of Independents of Lanzarote could have done something more?
-Look, I think that the PIL has been a victim of the civil war that Coalición Canaria is experiencing and until this civil war ends, I don't know how many deaths we are going to have. I think that the PIL has done what it had to do and is suffering the reprisals of the socialist sector of Coalición Canaria. That's right. The parties have committed to expelling these people because they do not agree with the motion of censure and the PIL will wait, and all we ask is forcefulness with what is said.
If there is no such forcefulness, what will be the role of the PIL in the government pact they maintain in the Cabildo of Lanzarote? Could there be consequences?
-No, no. At least they have not been raised and we have not even talked about it among ourselves. Nor should we be so dramatic. Because they censor me, we are not going to turn the island upside down. What I would never have imagined is that the PSOE would sign a motion of censure with the PNL. That is the last thing, after that there is nothing else.
Have your colleagues and the board of directors of your party called you?
-The call no, what I have received is total and absolute support. We in the PIL are a family, we are not fighting with each other, nor the others with each other and immediately, we met and went to eat to talk and share.
-Disgusts don't take away your hunger, do they?
-No, no. And I'm still breastfeeding the chinijo, that is, my milk hasn't been cut off.
