The mayor of the Yaiza City Council, Gladys Acuña, has summoned the members of the Local Security Board to a meeting that will be held on Tuesday, October 20, at 09:30 hours, in the Casa de la Cultura Benito Pérez Armas. The objective is to analyze the causes of the latest events that have taken place in the municipality (the murder of Benjamín Santana, among them), and, at the same time, define and establish guidelines for action aimed at guaranteeing the safety of the residents.

Maintain peace and harmony

"During the last weeks there have been situations of special relevance that force us to activate the protocols we have to guarantee the safety of the inhabitants of this municipality, on the other hand, a priority for us", says Gladys Acuña.

"In no way are we going to allow certain subjects to try to break the peace and harmony enjoyed by the residents of Yaiza. This is a traditionally quiet municipality and we are going to focus all our efforts to ensure that it remains so. Yaiza should not and cannot occupy the front pages of the media for events such as those that have sadly occurred recently", adds the mayor.

Security analysis

The only item on the agenda of this Local Security Board is the analysis of the current security situation in the municipality with special emphasis on the study of the latest criminal events that have occurred. The insular director of the General Administration of the State, Carmelo García Déniz, the mayor of the City Council and, in turn, councilor of Police, Gladys Acuña, the sergeant commander of the Civil Guard post in Yaiza, the Head of the Local Police, the secretary of the Southern Corporation and the spokespersons of the political groups with representation in the Plenary of the Corporation are summoned.
