The National Geographic Institute has registered a new earthquake of 3.6 degrees on the Richter scale. The movement has been detected in the area of La Restinga, although offshore, at 14:38 hours, at a depth of 11 kilometers; after another one of 3.5 degrees was detected this morning.
The latest, the most intense of those registered, has been felt in the nuclei of El Golfo, El Pinar and La Restinga.
The Government of the Canary Islands raised the seismic-volcanic situation of El Hierro to a yellow traffic light last Friday, September 23, in view of the variations in the seismic-volcanic phenomenon that has been occurring on the Island since last July.
This phase, of pre-emergency due to volcanic risk, implies greater information to the population, as well as taking certain self-protection measures in the case, still "unlikely", of an eruption, as explained in a press release issued on the day of the increase in the pre-alert level.
