The Ministry of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, through an order signed by Minister Migdalia Machín, has approved the extension of the deadline for the execution of the Playa Blanca Civic Cultural Center project. The subsidy, which amounts to 500,000 euros, seeks to strengthen the cultural infrastructure of the municipality of Yaiza.

According to the Yaiza City Council, the extension of the execution deadlines was requested due to delays derived from the complexity in the drafting of the project and the contracting processes. These delays, linked to compliance with the legal and technical requirements established in the Public Sector Contracts Law, made it impossible to meet the initially set deadline, which culminated in December 2024.

The approved extension allows the subsidized activity to be carried out until December 30, 2025, with an additional period for justification that will extend until February 28, 2026. This adjustment aims to ensure that the project is executed correctly, in line with regulatory standards, and optimize the positive impact of public investment.

The Playa Blanca Civic Cultural Center is emerging as a key space to boost the cultural and social life of the town, contributing to community development and access to quality cultural activities for residents and visitors.

The order also establishes that the modification does not alter the destination or purpose of the funds, and is part of the legal prerogatives that allow adjusting the deadlines for the fulfillment of the planned objectives. This decision underscores the commitment of the Government of the Canary Islands to promoting projects that positively impact the cultural and social fabric of the islands.
