The spokesperson for the Canarian Coalition in the San Bartolomé City Council, David Rocío, expresses his "surprise and total indignation" at the PSOE's decision to reject, in the plenary session held this Wednesday, CC's proposal to approve an institutional agreement that would support the burying of the LZ-2 as it passes through Playa Honda.
"We can only describe the plenary session as shameful," says Rocío. "Once it was made clear that the burying option is viable, we stated that we have to get involved. The citizens have put us here to make decisions and we have to be brave, even if we are wrong," the councilman asserts.
"We have lost the opportunity to demonstrate to the Government of the Canary Islands that the batateros and conejeros also know how to agree when something is truly important," he adds, regretting that a joint agreement could not be reached between all the forces that make up the plenary.
"Quite the contrary," Rocío emphasizes, the PSOE, "with its anything-goes attitude, kneels before its superiors and rejects this agreement that has been supported by the rest of the political forces of the City Council."
"Once again, the Socialist Party stands alone, prioritizing its subservience to the Government of Ángel Víctor Torres over improving the quality of life of the residents of the municipality of San Bartolomé," the nationalists criticize.
For the spokesperson of the Canarian Coalition, "it is more than demonstrated that this City Council has no management capacity or courage." "What we experienced yesterday during the plenary is truly embarrassing," he adds.
Thus, he announces that in the coming days, "the nationalist formation will address a letter to the Minister of Public Works of the Government of the Canary Islands, Sebastián Franquis, requesting an urgent meeting to reach agreements that truly satisfy the needs of the municipality."
"I trust that I will have the support of the rest of the forces with municipal representation. With the PSOE at the head of this City Council, we are not going anywhere, and we at least are not going to allow it to lead us all astray," insists David Rocío.
