CC criticizes the PSOE for "changing its mind again" with the LZ-2 and "betting on keeping Playa Honda separate"

The nationalists regret the rejection of the San Bartolomé government to bury the road: “We are tired of these ups and downs that harm investment and are making us lose a shopping center that would provide more than 600 jobs”

CC spokesman in the San Bartolomé City Council, David Rocío, has lamented "deeply" that the government presided over by the socialist Alexis Tejera "changed his mind again" and "did not support the motion presented by the nationalists to reach an institutional agreement for the burial of the LZ-2 at the height of Playa Honda".

“These ups and downs of the mayor cause investment to be lost in the industrial area, since it does not offer security when investing”, Rocío stressed, who affirms that the result is in sight, with “a shopping center in unit 7 that seems further away every day, when all it asked for was involvement in improving access”.

The nationalists criticize that their motion proposing the burial of the road fell "on deaf ears", as did their proposal for a third lane for "temporary and low-cost" slow traffic, while the aforementioned work is being considered. “Our intention has always been to extend a hand to reach an institutional agreement that would serve you. However, and although just a few months ago the mayor announced his commitment to the burial option, in the last plenary session of the San Bartolomé City Council he once again showed his submission to the government of the Cabildo (of the same political color), renouncing access and thus leaving aside the residents and merchants or potential investors of the town", they state from CC.

“We are tired of these ups and downs that harm investment and are making us lose a shopping center that would give more than 600 jobs to the municipality”, Rocío asserts.

"Immediate" need to improve access

On the other hand, the nationalist councilor points out that the different mobility studies, both public and private, that have been carried out, provide data such as that "road traffic on the LZ-2 is about 65,000 vehicles per day, 25,000 entering the Roper roundabout".

“These data make us persist in the immediate need to launch the project of works that improve this access, that improve accessibility to the town of Playa Honda and that guarantee the development of the commercial and industrial area of San Bartolomé”, he stresses.

The nationalists point out that the town of Playa Honda has more than 12,000 residents and a large shopping center and "only has one access from the Arrecife-Playa Blanca direction". "If we add the imminent development of unit 7, in addition to the interest of owners for the development of other units, a solution that also provides security to the investment of both the owners and investors in the industrial area, becomes more than necessary", they point out.

Of all the options proposed to date (tunnel, new road and burial), Coalición Canaria is committed to burying the road. “This proposal would allow us to create different accesses or exits to Playa Honda and the industrial area and, in addition, it would be a blank slate to propose a new area that in a participatory way is more friendly, more attractive to pedestrians and new elements of mobility”, emphasizes David Rocío.
