CC in the Cabildo regrets that the island's president, M.ª Dolores Corujo, "has completely rejected the project for the El Peñón road and instead has opted for a simple patch to get by".
“She sells as new what is nothing more than a minor solution, while rejecting the Mozaga al Peñón project, which was awarded jointly with the Masdache al Peñón project in 2018 and which had a total budget of 15 million euros”, said councilor Domingo Cejas.
Cejas recalls that these “two ambitious projects, awarded in the past term, were delivered in the present and comply with all current regulations regarding roads.”
Referring to the road between Mozaga and El Peñón, the councilor emphasizes that “for one of them that has an execution budget of 10 million euros, financing is being sought, as stated by the Councilor for Public Works himself, Jacobo Medina, and it is expected to be with funds from the Fdcan, although the Cabildo has huge permanent funds.”
From Coalición Canaria they point out that, the Mozaga-El Peñón road, which has already been awarded, “renouncing the ambitious project planned and a budget of five million euros, is the one they are going to undertake now with a ridiculous project of one million euros, that is, a patch in every way”.
“They renounce a project that has a budget of five million and they still do not undertake the road that the residents need and deserve after decades of waiting”, clarifies Domingo Cejas.
In short, CC adds that “while what has really happened is that the Government of the Cabildo has renounced the project it has on the table, what they are doing is presuming a minor solution.”
“We regret that the Councilor for Public Works has confirmed our forecasts; and it is that when Dolores Corujo and Jacobo Medina himself presumed of the huge investments that the Government of the Canary Islands was going to make in 2020 and 2021 on the island of Lanzarote, the truth is that they have practically not executed a single euro of the tens of millions of euros planned, as Medina himself has stated. It won't be because we didn't warn you”, the nationalists assert.
