The Coalition Canaria, PNC and San Borondón group in the Arrecife City Council has publicly congratulated the new mayor, Ástrid Pérez, "for the agility" to "unblock" the file for the transfer of land for the construction of public housing, which will be taken to an extraordinary Plenary session this Wednesday.
In a statement, the nationalists point out that they want to "recognize the commitment made by the new mayoress on an issue of vital importance for the city" and recall that during the election campaign they warned that "if this issue was not unblocked urgently, the three million euros foreseen by the Government of the Canary Islands for the current year would be at risk".
In the extraordinary and urgent plenary session, the City Council must approve the modification of the municipal inventory prior to the transfer of the land, "thus rectifying the problem detected in the previous transfer which, as announced in the past term by the Canarian Executive, was not valid for the purpose of building public housing", they emphasize from CC.
The nationalist group affirms that during the informative commission of Urbanism held this Tuesday they have already "announced their intention to promote the agreement with their vote", although from the government group they have indicated in a statement that CC has abstained in the vote. "Coalición Canaria will act responsibly with the residents and we hope that all the groups, including the socialist group that generated the mess, will act with the same responsibility to promote the response to one of the most pressing problems of our capital," said the group's spokesperson, Echedey Eugenio.
"As we said at the time, the only problem for the construction of public housing in Arrecife has been the neglect of the previous socialist government," added the spokesperson, who emphasizes that "we must congratulate the mayoress for having given priority and speed to this issue that, although simple to resolve, was lacking interest from the previous mayoress and her government".
