Coalición Canaria Lanzarote urges the president of the Cabildo, Mª Dolores Corujo, to take action on the suspension of the Isla de Los Volcanes Rally and "purge responsibilities urgently."

According to the island secretary, Migdalia Machín, “such an important issue with such economic and media repercussions, requires the highest island official to act with determination and take the necessary measures to alleviate the great damage caused by the decision of the government partners (PSOE and Podemos) not to authorize one of the most important sporting events on the island and in all of the Canary Islands, when there were only a few hours left for its celebration.”

Likewise, the nationalist leader points out that since the news broke last Thursday, there have been reactions not only from athletes, but also from fans, followers “and all those who, not only at the island level, but also state and even international, we are aware of everything that an event of these characteristics moves, which, let's not forget, attracts many people to the island and benefits our economic sector.”

However, Machín affirms, the president of the Cabildo has been the only one who has not even spoken. “The media received a brief press release in which the PSOE spokesperson, Marcos Bergaz, apologized and little else,” he said.

The island secretary of CC also recalls that this fact, which has caused the entire island to stir, only demonstrates the total inability of the government partners to reach a consensus and find a balance between the conservation of the environment and the development of the aforementioned event.

On the other hand, the Nationalist Group (CC-PNC) in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, announces that it will request the complete file of the Rally and that tomorrow Monday it will request an extraordinary plenary session (since it has the numbers for it) so that the Minister of the Environment, Elena Solís, and the president of the Cabildo, Mª Dolores Corujo, "explain the reasons for a totally misguided decision, which is already causing serious consequences for the island, both economically and in terms of image, and that PSOE and Podemos seem not to have taken into account."
