The acting president of the Canary Islands Government has been appointed president of the parliamentary group, while José Miguel Barragán will continue as spokesperson for the nationalist group. This was decided at the National Political Council of the Canarian Coalition - Canarian Nationalist Party (CC-PNC), held this Saturday in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. According to the party, an assessment has been made of the political situation of the last month, "which has allowed an in-depth analysis of the data", said the Secretary of Organization of the Canarian Coalition, Guadalupe González Taño.

The Canarian nationalist formation has positively valued "the increase in the number of votes received in the two recent elections and the leadership of the party in numerous institutions of the Canary Islands, despite the fact that subsequent agreements have not allowed CC-PNC to be present." Our commitment and the electoral support that the citizens of the Canary Islands have given us allow us to continue working to lead the great affairs of the Canary Islands, in some places where we are governing and, in others, in the opposition, where we have had to be," said González Taño.

This is the case of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, where the Secretary of Organization of the Canarian Coalition has announced that the party "is going to have an active role in the opposition with the leadership of Fernando Clavijo, to achieve the challenges that we have set ourselves: the defense of the Canary Islands and the defense of our jurisdiction. Let no one have any doubt about this. Our opposition will be loyal, but demanding. Our leadership in the opposition in the Parliament of the Canary Islands will be clear, forceful and resounding in the defense of the interests of the Canarian people, and in the defense of our jurisdiction against parties that have their decision-making center outside the Canary Islands and that until now have not defended the interests of the Canary Islands as we believe they should."

Guadalupe González Taño has also announced that the deputy spokespersons will be Narvay Quintero and Beatriz Calzada. "That will be the team with which we are going to carry out the work of the parliamentary group, accompanied by the rest of the members of the parliamentary group."

Regarding the designation of the person who would correspond to the Canarian Coalition-Canarian Nationalist Party in the Senate vote, González Taño pointed out that "the National Political Council has delegated it to the National Standing Committee of the party, since we are still with the restructuring of the group and there is still time to address that designation."

"We are debating the work plan for the coming months, which includes the defense of our jurisdiction in all the areas in which we are present: Congress, Senate, Parliament of the Canary Islands, but also in the majority of Canarian institutions," explained the Secretary of Nationalist Organization, who warned that "our commitment and the focus of work for the coming months, whether we are in the opposition or in the government in each of those institutions, is to continue demanding what corresponds to us in the State sphere. As well as continuing to fight for the defense and development of a Statute of Autonomy and an Economic and Fiscal Regime, which are key to the future of the Canarian people."

Guadalupe González Taño concluded her speech by pointing out that the National Political Council has fully supported the people who have carried the weight of the negotiations in this stage and also the negotiating teams in all the institutions where we have been. "It has been done with loyalty, seeking the interest of the Canary Islands above all else, and we have given more than enough evidence with people who had every right in the world to claim a key role in those agreements, and who, however, when necessary, made their position available. From generosity and loyalty to our objectives, and to the Canarian people, we have negotiated and tried to reach agreements. And where we have not achieved it, it has not been because we did not have those objectives, but because we have not achieved the agreement. We have never betrayed our basic principles."
