The car rental companies have conveyed to the Cabildo their "discomfort" with Aena, due to the changes it has applied at the Guacimeta airport. According to them, the public entity has made the "unilateral" decision to move its counters, where its customers formalize contracts and pick up car keys. In light of these complaints, the Minister of Transport and Mobility of the Island Corporation, José Juan Cruz, pledged to request a meeting with Aena officials in Lanzarote and the Canary Islands in search of a "solution."
Cruz met together with the president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, with the Association of Car Rental Businessmen, integrated into the Association of Tourist Businessmen of Lanzarote (AETUR). The employers' association conveyed to them the "discomfort" that this decision has aroused among the companies that provide this service. According to them, they have been moved to a more "distant place with little signage."
The businessmen have stated that this situation "affects not only the efficiency of the service, but also negatively affects the image of the island's aerodrome, which receives millions of tourists during the year." They indicate that 15 years ago the group and Aena signed an agreement to provide the airport with an "accessible" space for companies dedicated to car rental. In response to their demand, Cruz assured them that he would request that meeting to "try to solve" the situation.
