The Canary Islands Youth Press Association has started this 2020 by creating a delegation in Argana Alta with the aim that "the young people of the neighborhood have their autonomy and their own voice in order to claim their needs".
The members of the delegation have started working "with great enthusiasm" according to the association, which points out that proof of this is the citizen initiative that they presented to the Arrecife City Council last Friday, in which they request, if applicable, to be able to defend it before the next ordinary plenary session of the corporation.
In this initiative, three proposals are proposed, the first of which is to create spaces "where the young people of the neighborhood can have healthy leisure, always taking into account their opinion, so that they feel the spaces are their own".
They also demand to implement "more security" in the neighborhood, installing security cameras and more police presence; and that agreements be executed to revitalize the Argana Alta Sociocultural Center.
Criticism of the current government group: "They are quite high-pitched"
From the Youth Press Association they affirm that the main motivation that has led them to present this initiative is because they have observed that "this government group has been in office for seven months and there have been no changes in the neighborhood, nor in the attitude of politicians".
What's more, they believe that "they are quite high-pitched", according to Redwan Baddouh, one of the members of this delegation, who justifies this expression because he says "that the statements of the councilor of education have already been seen regarding the events that occurred in the CEIP Argana Alta" and that to that is added "that it implies that there is some type of distribution in the CEO Argana Alta".
Finally, the delegation of the Canary Islands Youth Press Association in Argana Alta points out that it hopes that, if the initiative they have presented is approved, "they will start working and solving the problems of the neighborhood, and that it will not remain in the drawers of the councilorships".
