The vice president of the Cabildo and Minister of Public Works, Fabián Martín, held a new meeting this Wednesday with the General Directorate of Ports of the Government of the Canary Islands, in order to take a further step in the drafting of the future port project
The vice president of the Cabildo, together with the deputy mayor of Yaiza, Leonardo Rodríguez, and the Councilor for Public Works of the southern municipality, Juan Lorenzo Tavío, received the General Director of Ports, Juan Manuel Soto, and the Head of Port Production, Rafael González, at the Island Council. In this meeting, they agreed on details of the design of the future port of Playa Blanca.
The initial proposal for the expansion of the Port of Playa Blanca, presented a few months ago by the Government of the Canary Islands, and endorsed by the Cabildo and the Yaiza City Council by the plenary sessions of both institutions, has become a defined and agreed project between the three administrations, with the aim of putting the project out to tender at the beginning of 2009. After the awarding of the Port project, the vice president and Minister of Public Works of the Cabildo, Fabián Martín, foresees that the execution of the work may begin at the end of 2010.
