The Arrecife City Council has granted urban planning permission for the reform and rehabilitation of the building known as Panasco, a property with heritage protection located at number 11 Calle León y Castillo.
The Governing Board of the capital's City Council, chaired by Mayor Ástrid Pérez, has authorized the "reform, remodeling and expansion of the existing building, which after the works will have two commercial premises and eight homes", according to the favorable report from the municipal technicians. The property, in addition to Calle León y Castillo, also has access from Calle José Molina number 4.
According to the City Council, the property has the mandatory report and authorization from the Heritage Department of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, as it is listed as one of the unique buildings of the capital of Lanzarote.
In addition, last August, the State Aviation Safety Agency granted the mandatory authorization, as Arrecife is in the aeronautical easement zone due to the Lanzarote Airport. The Historical Heritage Service of the Cabildo of Lanzarote granted the authorization on May 28, 2019 and the Governing Board of Arrecife approved the license at its meeting on October 23, 2019, although the City Council has now made it public.
The works must begin in six months and be completed in two years
According to the license already communicated to the property, the works must begin within a period of six months (from the notification) and must be completed within two years.
This property, which currently has two floors, housed a well-known business in Arrecife. For some years now, the walls of both facades have been covered by a net to prevent the detachment of debris and damage to passers-by.
