The Arrecife City Council has launched a campaign to help and prevent possible Covid-19 infections among the elderly residing in the capital.
The initiative, which is launched from this Tuesday, December 1, has been promoted by the Elderly Area within the Department of Social Services, Equality and Immigration of the Arrecife City Council, and aims to raise awareness among families of the need to reinforce the care and prevention of infections in the elderly population. The campaign, with wide dissemination on radio stations, digital media, local televisions, outdoor advertising in the City Council's plans distributed on the Avenue, and the lettering of the Municipal Buses, carries the message 'Protect yourself, Protect them'.
The Arrecife City Council is also distributing some 4,000 washable and personalized masks with the image of the Puente de las Bolas among elderly groups, neighborhood associations and senior centers.
"We must take care of the people who took care of us"
The Arrecife Municipal Archive hall hosted the presentation of this campaign, which was attended by the mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, and the councilor for Social Services, María Jesús Tovar. Also present at this press conference were the councilor for Health, Saro González, and the councilor for Mobility and Transport, Ángela Hernández, who has ceded the municipal buses as an external support to raise awareness among the population to extreme possible infections, helping to always guarantee the presence of masks among the elderly who reside in Arrecife.

Ástrid Pérez and María Jesús Tovar stressed that now, with the arrival of winter and the Christmas holidays, many elderly people will meet with their families, asking them to take extreme measures to avoid possible infections. "Now more than ever we must take care of the people who took care of us, promoting this generational interaction", remarked the mayor of Arrecife and the councilor for Social Services.
