The Arrecife City Council Plenary approved this Tuesday unanimously the transfer of land requested by the Government of the Canary Islands for the construction of a total of 400 homes in the city. "This promotion does not solve the neglect of previous years, but it is a step in the right direction to overcome the historical debt of the Government of the Canary Islands with Arrecife in terms of housing," defended the mayor, Eva de Anta.
In addition, she has responded to the criticisms launched in recent days by the PP and has denied that this investment will be lost because the deadline established for the transfer of land has been met. "The date indicated by the Canary Islands Housing Institute does not constitute a legally binding term, nor any unextendable expiration," said the mayor, who points out that "it is a political and organizational program that in no case can mean that Arrecife is deprived of that investment."
In addition, she has requested the "collaboration" of all groups to prevent the Government of the Canary Islands from hiding behind an organizational decision to nullify its commitment. "If those who have acted as satisfied spokespersons of the misfortune insist, there will be no Government of the Canary Islands capable of allowing a senior official to place an organizational decision above the rights of Arrecife," defended the mayor.
An "error" in the file initiated by CC
In addition, De Anta has blamed the former councilor of the area, Samuel Martín, who was the one who initiated the file before CC left the government group, for the delay. And that file, according to the mayor, "suffered from an error that made its processing impossible, since one of the affected plots had already been transferred to the Government of the Canary Islands."
"We have had to nullify the previous transfer, for not having been completed, and ensure that, in record time, the Land Registry reflected the new situation, since the transfer had to be accompanied by a registry certificate demonstrating that the plot was in a position to be transferred," explained the mayor.
Now, the transfer approved this Tuesday will have to be submitted to public information for twenty days. After that period, the Plenary will meet again to approve it definitively.
