Arrecife advances the procedures to transfer facilities to the Canary Police

The mayor of the capital, Yonathan de León, has announced that "the Canary Police is considering establishing itself in the old premises of the Local Police, given its strategic location"

The Arrecife City Council continues to take steps forward for the transfer of a space, of municipal ownership, so that the Canary Police can install its base in Lanzarote

The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, held a meeting with the General Director of Security of the Government of the Canary Islands, David del Pino, the deputy mayor of Arrecife, Echedey Eugenio, and the president of the Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote, Francisco J. Aparicio. 

“From the Arrecife City Council we continue to take steps forward to have this police force that is so necessary for the third capital of the Canary Islands”, said the mayor, Yonathan de León.

In this sense, the mayor announced that the Canary Police is considering establishing itself in the old premises of the Local Police, given its strategic location. “We will soon submit to the Plenary that transfer of space, which we hope will be in the coming months so that the presence of this police force will soon be a reality”, added de León.

"Arrecife, as the third capital of the Canary Islands, must have a specific reinforcement in security",  said the deputy mayor,  Echedey Eugenio, stressing that "security has been and will continue to be one of our main objectives. For this reason, it is a priority that we do everything necessary for the Canary Police to establish itself here permanently. We are committed to fulfilling this objective, which will be a fundamental step to guarantee the tranquility and protection of the citizens". 

The president of the Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote, Francisco J. Aparicio, valued this meeting as “very positive in view of the imminent arrival of the Canary Police to Lanzarote”. “Security is a matter that we always promote and intend to improve on our island, and the implementation of the Local Police is key to that progress”, he added. 

The mayor of Arrecife extended his sincere gratitude to the general director of Security for his “willingness to speed up the process”. “From the Arrecife City Council we are working to give it the greatest possible speed so that the Canary Police is in the capital, since it is one of the priorities of the Government of the Consistory”, he concluded.
