The Plenary of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has definitively and unanimously approved this Thursday the regulatory framework for the granting of subsidies aimed at non-profit entities that develop social intervention projects in Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
These grants will be awarded under a competitive system and will be aimed at improving the quality of life of the most vulnerable groups in society, through programs linked to children and families, equality and diversity, the fight against addictions, care for disability and dependency, social inclusion or immigration, among other areas of action.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, stressed that "with the approval of these bases we are moving forward with determination in our commitment to social welfare and inclusion. Lanzarote and La Graciosa have a valuable associative fabric that deserves the support of the island institution to continue developing projects that improve people's lives and guarantee a fairer and more cohesive society."
For his part, the Minister of Social Welfare and Inclusion, Marci Acuña, stressed that "after ten years without regulatory bases, we have designed broad, flexible and transparent bases, which will allow us to address projects of great diversity and, above all, with a comprehensive approach. It is about offering tools to social entities so that they can respond to the real needs of the population, especially in the most sensitive areas such as childhood, disability, unwanted loneliness or support for migrants."
Requirements and procedure
These regulatory bases are part of a roadmap marked by the current Government group at the beginning of the term where the objective was to order and regulate these subsidies to social entities, as was done with the social agreement.
"The will of this Cabildo," adds Councilor Marci Acuña, "is to propose several calls throughout the year, depending on the budgetary capacity of the Corporation, something that will undoubtedly result in a better capacity of the entities."
As for the requirements, the applicant entities must be legally constituted, non-profit, have a permanent headquarters or delegation in Lanzarote or La Graciosa and effectively carry out activities in the social field. With respect to the applications, they will be submitted exclusively through the electronic headquarters of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, within a period of 20 working days from the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas.
The award process will be based on a scale of up to 100 points, which will assess the trajectory and management capacity of the entities, the quality and innovation of the projects presented, the methodology and evaluation indicators, the gender perspective, accessibility and inclusion, as well as the coherence of the budget. Only those proposals that exceed 50 points may be subsidized. With respect to the maximum amount of the aid, it may reach up to 100% of the cost of the eligible project.
