The deputy mayor of the Yaiza City Council and spokesperson for the Canarian Coalition (CC) in the municipality, Ángel Domínguez, has spoken about the controversy of the pact table that surrounds the local institution, stating that "it could have been done differently".
Domínguez explained in an interview granted on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero that he does not understand Emilio Machín's position, since "if he wanted to denounce that he has not been given the documentation of the telephone bill, he should have convened the table at that time, and not start sending press releases attacking his government colleagues".
In that sense, the politician attributes his colleague's attitude to the fact that "as he is a candidate, he will want to gain more prominence in the eyes of the residents" and states that "he should have done it the other way around", although he does not argue against holding this meeting: "We will wait for it to be done and for what needs to be said to be said".
"We have had a positive pact"
Although the pact table does not yet have a clear date, the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, has already received an email convening it. Given this situation, Domínguez hopes that "it will not be necessary to reach a rupture, but that things will be clarified", since, in his opinion, "we have had a positive pact".
"It has been a difficult legislature, with situations that no one expected, but we moved forward with the agreement between all the colleagues and we have not stopped acting in the municipality. We have all been participants in the good actions that we have put in place in Yaiza".
Will not form a new party
However, in the event that said separation of the group is confirmed, the CC spokesperson is not clear about what his future will be: "I have not yet considered whether I would leave the party or not, because I am confident that we can fix the situation", he reiterates, "but if I have to do it, I wish the best of luck to those who continue, as what is best for them will also be best for the town".
What he is clear about is that he will not take the path that some of his counterparts have taken in municipalities such as Teguise or Haría, since "politics today is not about creating new formations, and even less so at this point", which rules out forming a new party.
Finally, regarding the rumors of whether Noda could agree with Nueva Canarias, Domínguez has preferred not to comment, stating that "the mayor is focused on Yaiza, which is his priority, and I do not know his thoughts regarding possible alliances".
