The meeting of the pact table scheduled for yesterday was postponed to Monday, however, there is no doubt that the councilors of the Socialist Party (PSOE) in San Bartolomé will not swallow an agreement that involves the continuity of Miguel Martín in the Mayor's Office. Moreover, although the socialist spokesperson, Andrés Stinga, did not say it openly, the political agreement in the municipality has not been closed because the PSOE councilors demand the presidency of the City Council.

What Stinga did reiterate is that they do not recognize Miguel Martín as a member of the Canarian Coalition, and therefore if the Mayor's Office remains in his hands it would be a breach of the agreement signed by the critical sector of the Party of Independents of Lanzarote (PIL), CC and the PSOE. Stinga and Antonio Rocío, another of the socialist councilors in San Bartolomé, met yesterday morning with Manuel Fajardo, island secretary of the PSOE.

Meeting of the island directorates

Upon leaving the meeting, Stinga stated that on Monday the island directorates of the formations that make up the tripartite will sit down to try to reach an agreement.

The panorama is not at all clear because if the socialists of San Bartolomé insist on keeping the Mayor's Office and the island leadership of the PSOE thinks of giving in in order to provoke the definitive pact, there would be a clash of interests. On the other hand, although the two CC councilors

rectified and asked Miguel Martín to dismiss the councilors of the Popular Party, they remain firm in their defense of the Mayor's Office in the figure of Martín.

In addition, another pending issue is the definitive position that the two PIL councilors will adopt.

Candelaria Ledesma and Carlos Martín also signed the famous statement of support for Martín, but publicly they have not yet said that they demand the departure of the popular ones from the government. However, a source asserted to La Voz that news will soon be known that goes along those lines. More pieces are appearing to the puzzle of San Bartolomé and whatever the outcome, the face of happiness will not shine on all faces.

Strictly comply with the pact

The councilors of the three formations of that municipality failed to reach an agreement, so it is assumed that the island directorates will be the ones that try to close the pact, and that the decision must be respected by the municipal councilors.

The spokesperson for CC in the Cabildo, Mario Pérez, recalled that his formation unanimously decided by the Insular Political Council that its councilors in San Bartolomé should strictly comply with the pact signed with the PIL and PSOE. The leadership of CC asked that they urge Miguel Martín to dismiss the PP councilors, but not that they withdraw support from Martín so that he continues in the mayor's chair.
