The conejero socialist and mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, has been appointed as president of the Fisheries, Coasts and Insularity Commission of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.
Proposed by María Dolores Corujo, general secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote, socialist deputy in Congress and coordinator in the Canary Islands of the parliamentary groups of Congress and Senate, Villalba will take on this responsibility, being the only Presidency that will be represented by a Canary Islander.
This commission is part of the 30 Working commissions integrated in the FEMP, which has in this mandate three more than in the period 2019-2023 and whose main objective is the defense and promotion of the interests of the integrated municipalities and establishes as a priority to generate a permanent debate about the issues it occupies.
“The appointment of a Lanzarote native to preside over this commission also represents an opportunity to contribute proposals and initiatives that contribute to responding to the needs of the municipalities of the island, also constituting a channel for participation and representation of the same in the FEMP, and in the organs of the State Administration related to Fisheries, Coast and Insularity policies”, said María Dolores Corujo.
“It is good news for the PSOE of Lanzarote that the interests of the island will be represented by a colleague with the commitment and dedication of Alfredo Villalba, to whom I express my most sincere congratulations”, concluded Corujo.
