The Yaiza City Council has completed this Friday the new accessibility works consisting of the construction of a ramp and stairs that improve safety and facilitate pedestrian traffic between the residential area near the ravine of the town of Playa Blanca and Avenida a Femés. “One more action of urban intervention aimed at offering more friendly, accessible and close public spaces”, says the southern mayor, Óscar Noda, who has been supervising the completion of works together with the Councilor for Accessibility and Maintenance of Public Buildings, Rubén Arca.
“We have installed a total of four lighting points supplied with solar energy to be efficient and not increase the cost of the municipal electricity bill”, says the responsible councilor.
Ramp and stairs have ergonomic railings and handrails to provide greater safety, especially for people with reduced mobility, and the so-called podotactile pavement has been installed in their accesses, which is a surface with relief of small circles detectable and recognizable for blind people as a sign of alert or caution.
