The municipality of Yaiza has the highest incidence of Covid on the island in relation to its population, after having added 290 cases in the last week and 394 in the last 14 days. This Tuesday alone, 70 of the 429 positives reported in Lanzarote correspond to Yaiza.

This has also made it the third municipality in the Canary Islands with the highest incidence at 7 days, with 1,701 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. According to the latest detailed report from the Ministry of Health, only the municipality of Fasnia (Tenerife), with 1,845, and Los Llanos de Aridane, in La Palma, with 1,984, are above it in this indicator.

At 14 days, the accumulated incidence in Yaiza is 2,312 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, which continues to place it at the head of Lanzarote, but in this case not among the top three in the Canary Islands. In the accumulated two weeks there are a dozen municipalities above that figure, but in the case of Yaiza the progression of the last days is worrying, as is the case with almost all the municipalities of Lanzarote.

The second place in incidence per number of inhabitants is occupied by Arrecife, with 1,607 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 7 days and 2,277 in 14 days. This Tuesday alone, the capital added 218 new positives, and in one week it has accumulated 1,039.

The fourth place is occupied by Teguise, with an incidence of 1,136 at 7 days and 1,968 at 14 days. In this case, it has added 258 cases in the last week and 447 in two weeks.

Just behind is Tías, with an incidence of 946 at 7 days and 1,483 at 14 days, after adding 194 cases in the last week and 306 in two weeks.

Closely followed by Tinajo, with an incidence of 901 at 7 days and 1,865 at 14 days. In its case, it is the only one that had even worse data the previous week, and accumulates 120 positives in 14 days and 58 in the last 7 days.

The list is closed by Haría, which in the last week has added 27 cases and in two weeks 52. In this municipality, the incidence at 7 days is 513 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 14 days in 988.

Indicators at the maximum risk level

In addition to the general incidence, which is at the maximum risk level in all municipalities, the incidence in people over 65 years of age has also skyrocketed, which is at very high risk throughout the island.

And traceability has also plummeted, which is what measures the ability to track cases, depending on those that can be associated with a specific outbreak. In this case, it is between 9% and 14% in all municipalities, when during most of the pandemic it has been exceeding 80 and even 90%.

The other indicator that reflects how uncontrolled the situation is is positivity, that is, the number of tests that are positive for each test that is performed. In this case, the figure has already climbed to 22.06%, when the World Health Organization establishes that this figure should not exceed 5%.
