The illusion remains despite the years and gray hairs, as was demonstrated in the Kings' parades of Yaiza and Playa Blanca where the youngest, not so young and older people enjoyed equally the magical tour made by Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar during the afternoon and evening of this Thursday. The public of both towns supported their Majesties from the East turning the passage of the procession into an authentic human river, especially in the tourist center of Playa Blanca, which concentrated thousands of residents and visitors, almost as much as in the crowded southern carnival arena.
The three Wise Men spread joy, illusion and more than 400 kilos of candy, and the public responded to that happiness by offering them, in these dates so marked by the delivery of gifts and details, a warm and massive reception accompanied by euphoric shouts, winks, greetings, applause and endless displays of affection captured by cell phones and any amount of digital media.
The good weather and the beautiful landscape of the town of Yaiza, with mountains and valleys still tinged with green due to the effect of the rains, framed the arrival of the Kings on camelback. ‘Abdul’, ‘Fermín’ and ‘El Mayo’ were this year the camels in charge of transferring their Majesties to the south of Lanzarote.
The protagonists and their entourage toured the main street of Yaiza to the Plaza de Los Remedios, a location that gathered the largest number of public. The Municipal Band of Yaiza, the Los Yaiseros troupe, jugglers and children's characters enlivened the arrival of Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar. Once in the square, the three Kings attended one by one to the children and then moved 15 kilometers further south to fulfill another exciting appointment.
In Playa Blanca the parade started at seven in the afternoon. At that time there were thousands of people in Jaime Quesada ‘El Maestro’ street and in Papagayo Avenue waiting for the procession. The drums of the Villa Pipol batucada announced the proximity of their Majesties, but before the passage of the three great protagonists of the day there was room for more animation, and in Playa Blanca there were also well-known characters from the world of comics, jugglers and Los Yaiseros.
The happy and devoted public cheered the passage of the massive parade that ended its journey in the Plaza del Carmen. Their Majesties, as in the town of Yaiza, went up on stage, handed out cones with sweets and took pictures with dozens of boys and girls. The City Council of Yaiza, through the Councilor for Festivities, Javier Camacho, appreciates the exemplary behavior of the attendance and the support of the security and emergency services present, Local Police of Yaiza, Civil Protection volunteers and firefighters of the Consortium.
