Writer Alexis Ravelo dies

The writer was the favorite son of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The crime novelist Alexis Ravelo passed away from a heart attack on the morning of this Monday, January 30, according to sources close to him.

Born in 1971 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, he burst strongly onto the Spanish cultural and literary scene, proclaiming himself as a successful author of books of stories and micro-stories, children's and youth books, novels (especially in the field of crime novels), and theater, radio and television scripts. His first title was Tres funerales para Eladio Monroy, which opened a series starring the same character: Solo los muertos, Los tipos duros no leen poesía, Morir despacio, Si no hubiera mañana and El peor de los tiempos. His latest work was Los días de Mercurio, published in 2022.

In addition, Ravelo wrote the work La ceguera del cangrejo on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the Lanzarote artist César Manrique.
