Canal Gestión reported this Thursday morning that La Graciosa and 20 towns in Lanzarote are still without water after the massive outage this past Wednesday due to the shutdown of a desalination plant. In addition, the company in charge of the supply on the island has announced the reopening of the supply in only five towns: San Bartolomé, Tías, Haría and Máguez, and Teguise. This update was communicated by the company at 09.57 hours on its website.
Canal Gestión has announced that "until the pipes are fully loaded and adequate reserve levels are recovered, it is likely that these towns will notice anomalies in the supply during the next few hours".
In addition, the concessionaire company has assured that "once the supply of these towns is regularized", the service will be restored in the rest of the localities that are currently closed.
The localities that are still affected by the lack of water are: Arrieta, Tabayesco, Punta Mujeres, Mala, Ye, Los Valles, Tahíche, Nazaret, Tao, Soo, Muñique, Guatiza, Teseguite, Tiagua, La Graciosa, Güime, Montaña Blanca, Mácher, Yaiza, Uga and the Tegoyo area.
According to the forecasts advanced by Canal Gestión, it is expected that by the end of the day all the supplies that have been affected by the incident in Lanzarote IV will be in service, with the exception of La Graciosa, which is "very likely" to remain without water until this Friday, unless "new critical situations arise".
It should be remembered that this Friday, Lanzarote and La Graciosa are on yellow alert for high temperatures. As La Voz published this Wednesday, the concessionaire of the integral water service attributes these supply cuts to "unexpected technical problems" after the Lanzarote IV desalination plant stopped operating after suffering a "total" shutdown.
