The company in charge of water management in Lanzarote, Canal Gestión, has announced supply cuts in 24 towns on the island this Wednesday.

The concessionaire of the integral water service attributes these supply cuts to "unexpected technical problems" after the Lanzarote IV desalination plant stopped operating after suffering a "total" shutdown.

The affected localities are the towns of Haría, Arrieta, Tabayesco, Maguez, Punta Mujeres, Mala, Teguise, Los Valles, Tahiche, Nazaret, Tao, Soo, Muñique, Guatiza, Teseguite, San Bartolomé, Güime, Montaña Blanca, Tías, Macher, Yaiza, Uga and the Tegoyo area.

Gestión Lanzarote has assured that "it is proceeding to solve the incident as soon as possible, putting all the material and human resources at its disposal, however, the supply is not expected to be restored to normal until tomorrow" Thursday. This was reported through its website.

In addition to this incident, Canal Gestión had already reported water cuts in five towns on the island since the morning of this Wednesday. In the northern part of the island, Haría, Guinate and Arrieta were already suffering from a lack of water supply, to which was added Los Valles (Teguise) and El Cuchillo in Tinajo.
