Nievelina Reyes was another one of the protagonists of the beginning of Radio Lanzarote, back in 1972. The announcer experienced the difficulties of the beginning firsthand, and has returned, 50 years later, to what was her home to tell how, in what way and why she decided to work at Radio Lanzarote.
Like Maribel Banderas and Francisco González, Nievelina started very young and by chance. And she was studying the baccalaureate when the phone rang at her parents' house to inform her that she had been selected to work at Radio Lanzarote, after doing a small test that consisted of reading a poem, an obituary, an advertisement and reading a text.
From there began a process of learning and adaptation to the radio. In times of censorship, "they forced us to pronounce the 'ces', the 'zetas', the 'uves', and it was very difficult for a Canary Islander", she detailed in the interview in Más de Uno with Techy Acosta, where she also recalled the successes and mistakes she had throughout her career on the microphones.
In addition, she told one of the anecdotes of her life, and that is that the mythical journalist of RTVE, José Luis Uribarri, wanted to take her to work in Madrid after presenting the pre-gala of Miss Spain 1972, when Amparo Muñoz won, who finally became the winner of Miss Universe. "I presented a pre-gala, but it gave me tremendous fear," explains the announcer.
Nievelina Reyes was the director and presenter of the mythical Radio Lanzarote program "Touring South America", one of the first spaces in the beginnings of the local station.
