A couple of Irish tourists had an oversight during the first day of their vacation in Lanzarote. After having dinner at a Chinese restaurant on Avenida de Las Playas, they got into a taxi in Puerto del Carmen and forgot their wallet in the back of the vehicle containing about 700 pounds sterling (around 800 euros).

The two tourists were lucky that the taxi driver, of Ecuadorian origin, Manolo Arturo Mayorga Vivanco, who picked them up, after finishing his work day, checked the vehicle and found the couple's belongings. The taxi driver pointed out to La Provincia that "I was even a little scared because of all the money the poor lady lost." "I always like to check the back of the taxi because, normally, things are left behind and to prevent another customer who gets in later from keeping them, I check to see if they have forgotten something," added the taxi driver.

Immediately afterwards, the taxi driver went to the Jable Bermudas apartments, in Puerto del Carmen, where the tourists were staying and that is where he gave the couple their belongings. To the taxi driver's surprise, he was rewarded with 90 pounds that they both gave him for the favor. "The lady gave me 50 pounds in one hand and the gentleman 40 in the other," recalls Manolo.
