The Holy Week officially begins for the Catholic community with the procession of the Lord of the Little Donkey. This Palm Sunday at 10:30 in the morning and with the three naves of the church of San Ginés in Arrecife crowded by the parishioners, the Holy Mass began. On this occasion it has been presided over by the titular parish priest Miguel Hernández. For this occasion, the songs for the celebration have been directed by the professor Carmen Dolores Rodríguez. A very special celebration having as its central axis the reading of the Passion of the Lord.
Once the Holy Mass was over, the image of the Lord of the Little Donkey made its way to the Plaza de Las Palmas in front of the church where all those present carried olive branches that they raised upwards so that the parish priest could bless them. Then the procession started through the streets of the city followed by hundreds of parishioners who throughout the route were singing the songs typical of this celebration.
The entrance of Jesus into the city of Jerusalem becomes the official start of Holy Week, where advertising offers sneak in everywhere trying to convince some and others to choose places of rest visiting some countries, others looking for coastal areas to take the first dip of the year or those who decide to participate in the religious events programmed in the nearest parish.
