Clavel, the podenco that arrived at the animal shelter with an "exploded eye" after the intervention of Seprona, is recovering favorably in Sara's facilities. "He is getting better and better," says one of the volunteers, Flavia Baridón. The dog was operated on and the stitches have already fallen out, but he has not yet found a family to adopt him.
Baridón assures that Clavel approaches "much more" to the volunteers without them calling him. "He is very affectionate, he is a very sweet dog. He has changed a lot since he arrived. When you give love to an abandoned animal, it immediately clings to you. With love, behavioral problems are solved," says this volunteer, who assures that Clavel has made a change "quite important and very fast, despite what happened."
For the moment, Clavel has not found a family to adopt him, although Sara maintains the "hope" that someone will appear to adopt him or a godfather. "I have hope because these cases are moving and someone always appears. People are touched by the case and decide to choose this dog before another who has not suffered so much," says Baridón.
It was the Seprona of the Civil Guard who reported the state of this podenco dog last September 8 and filed "four administrative files for four different concepts" related to the animal against its owner, a hunter. The Seprona went to the home of this man, whom he denounced and asked to take the animal to the shelter so that it could be treated.
Cats with "eye infections or limping"
In addition, this volunteer warns that many puppies, both dogs and cats, are arriving at the shelter facilities. "We are overwhelmed with kittens, as always. But many arrive with eye infections, or limping with hip problems," says Baridón. When cats arrive in this state, they must first heal at the shelter headquarters before being adopted.
This delays the process and increases the expenses for the shelter, since "anything that has to be done, such as an ultrasound, is very expensive." And it is that the price rises above 200 euros and reaches 400 euros in case the cat needs surgery. "The problem with the bones is very expensive," says Baridón.
