At this time of year, any activity is transformed into a Christmas journey. This is what has happened to the students of the CEIP Sanjurjo Maneje, who beyond making the classic extra-academic excursions are enjoying a route through the nativity scenes of the municipalities of Lanzarote. This Monday they visited the Nativity Scene of La Villa de Teguise.
And, in addition, the nativity scene contest organized by the Teguise City Council has caused the corners of the municipality to be filled with the most carefully crafted Christmas representations, which have been made by neighbors and groups with the greatest dedication to create the most original designs.
This Monday the jury of the 5th Nativity Scene Contest of Teguise, which includes Sonia Morales, Juani Barreto and Lidia Ventura, began their route to choose the best-made nativity scene. Until this Wednesday they will continue to delight in homes and socio-cultural centers in order to assess the originality and quality of the nativity scenes.
More than twenty neighbors participate in the individual call, and three are the groups that compete, Soo, Tiagua and Los Cocoteros. The home portals are eligible for a first and second prize of 300 and 150 euros, while the winning associations will have a reward of 450 and 250 euros. The decision of the contest will be made next Monday, December 29 at the Convent of Santo Domingo.
