"We have lost a great friend, colleague, great professional and one of the most active people in the cooperative." This is how the president of the Arrecife Taxi Cooperative, Lito Guillén, referred to the last person to die on the island with Covid, who died this Wednesday in the ICU of the Molina Orosa Hospital.

Agustín was a taxi driver and had recently retired, as explained by his colleague on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero. "He created the first radio-taxi in Lanzarote", said Guillén, who explains that he was known among his colleagues as Tino 'The Limp'. "He was a very cheerful, very lively person, he never had problems. I never knew him with a louder voice or anger, he was always smiling and the most important thing is that he would get you out of whatever mood you were in", added Lito Guillén.

Although after retiring Agustín had left the Volvo with which he had been working as a taxi driver, "he took a car to continue with the activity through a salaried employee", according to Guillén. However, unfortunately, this 67-year-old man died this Wednesday in the ICU of the Molina Orosa Hospital, where he had been admitted after contracting Covid. "It is true that he had other pathologies, but that is no consolation", said the president of the Arrecife taxi cooperative.

As a sign of mourning, taxi drivers are wearing a black armband this Thursday. "The truth is that we are very sorry", concluded Lito Guillén.
