The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Pedro San Ginés, and the island director of Education, Juan Cruz, were in charge of presenting the awards of the I Easy Recycling Contest, organized by the Waste Area of the Cabildo in November.
After the exhibition of 11 of the more than 15 works presented by the participating educational centers, the jury of the contest (made up of two technicians from the Waste department of the Cabildo, the island director of Waste, the head of Ecovidrio in the Canary Islands and two members of the management of the Teachers' Center), awarded the CEIP Capellanía de Yagabo and the Environmental Classroom of the IES César Manrique. The two schools were awarded for their ability to convey the need for recycling on the island. The event took place in the assembly hall of the first island institution.
The prizes of the first edition of this contest have consisted of computer equipment valued at 1,000 euros for the best project, as well as a visit to all the Tourist Centers plus a meal at the Farmer's Monument for all the students of the winning classroom.
